The Southeast Valley Lutheran Coalition is launching a volunteer outreach program this year encouraging our member volunteers to invite their friends and co-workers to participate in build-teams as we construct our first home in Mesa.

Our 11th Annual Habitat Golf Scramble is scheduled for November 13, 2010 at the Foothills Golf Club in Ahwatukee, shotgun start at 7:30am. The 4-man scramble tournament includes buffet lunch, prizes and raffles. Sign ups begin in October.

The SE Valley Lutheran Coalition for Habitat for Humanity is a group of Southeast Valley churches that join together to sponsor the construction of a new Habitat for Humanity home each year. The coalition provides the funds, volunteer labor and “In-Kind” donations required for the $85,000 sponsorship cost. Our latest project was completed in February 2010 and marks the completion of our 12th Habitat for Humanity home.

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old to volunteer for construction and  must be at least 18 to use power tools or be on the roof.

Experience is not required but always welcome.

The Coalition raises sponsorship funds through a Fall Golf Tournament, “In-Kind” donations of material and labor by material suppliers and contractors and individual contributions. Our single largest funding source is contributions from individuals utilizing the Arizona State Tax law which allows a dollar-for-dollar tax credit for contributions for the working poor.
